Confirmed! Arsenal Move For £24m Striker Approved

Arsenal have received a transfer boost ahead of the summer window after prime striking target Jackson Martinez confirmed he will be allowed to leave Porto this summer.

The 28-year-old striker, valued at around £24m, is considered by Arsene Wenger to be the prime addition to his forward line next term, as he eyes a striker that can fire the Gunners to their first Premier League success in a decade.

Martinez scored 21 goals in 29 games during the Portuguese league this season, as well as seven goals in the Champions League, to cement his position as one of the deadliest finishers in European football.

The Colombian, who is also a target for Liverpool and Roma, confirmed that he would be allowed to leave Porto this summer as he said:

“Now I’m focused on the Colombian national team, but obviously waiting to know what will be my future, because I already received permission from Porto to leave.”

Arsenal are believed to be winning the chase for the South American’s signature but a move is likely to be delayed until after Colombia’s involvement in this summer’s Copa America.
