The Newcastle midfielder has been linked with a move away all month but is yet to find a new club. Wenger could be tempted by the Frenchman’s power and versatility.
The Newcastle talisman is open to the idea of a move to Arsenal this window, he told press earlier in the month: “The transfer market is open, so things can happen any day, but I am focused on Newcastle. If anything should happen, it will. I hope I’ll leave for a bigger club one day, but I don’t know when”.
The Frenchman continued by saying: “If Wenger calls, I’ll have a man-to-man discussion with him and then we’ll see. Arsenal has always been the club of my heart.”
All in all I don’t expect Arsenal to make a signing today, but if they do then I think it will be one of these three. I think Wenger will wait until the end of the season before signing his main transfer target Morgan Schneiderlin. Despite loaning out three strikers, with Chuba Akpom needing game time and Danny Welbeck due to return, Arsenal really don’t need another striker this month.
