At around £30m Benzema would offer good experience and a solid centre-forward option should Arsenal decide to snatch the Real Madrid hit man. With just 28 league goals in the last 2 seasons, is he really the striker to push Arsenal forward? No doubt that should Benzema link up with former teammate Mesut Özil it would be a recipe for goals. But given Wenger’s comments in the winter suggesting that signing Benzema wasn’t a good idea, here’s 5 alternatives who can do a job for Arsenal. We want to know which striker you’d like to see Arsenal sign, so let us know by leaving your thoughts in the comments section below.
1. Loic Remy
A proven Premier League goal scorer, Remy is clinical and has good pace which is what Arsenal currently lack in their current striker in Giroud. Apparently available for around £10m, Remy would be one of the cheaper options out there this summer. 14 goals in a season of several injuries playing for a below par Newcastle United team is a great haul. Remy in an Arsenal shirt, linking up with the likes of Özil and Ramsey could easily hit 20 league goals a season. There are some concerns over his injuries though and also his attitude. QPR boss Harry Redknapp has made it very clear that the player will not be playing for his club next season, which leaves the door open to a cut-price switch to the Emirates – but is he good enough?
