The Gabon international looked set to sign with Manchester City earlier this month, but that story has fallen flat with speculation suggesting the Gunners have registered their interest.

Aubameyang has enjoyed the season of his career and despite rumours appearing every year that he could be set to leave, this summer money seems to do more of the talking.

Arsenal, along with a host of other clubs, are financially stable and could make the move for the highly rated forward who carries a rough price tag in the region of £45million.

But following the headlines on some English media back pages the 27-year-old’s father, Pierre-Francois, has revealed a certain club that could be leading the race to sign his son.

Interest from Atletico? Yes, and many other teams.

He’s contracted with Borussia for four more years so we must not speak about it, but of course, teams are watching him for what he did last season.

After grabbing himself 39 goals in just 46 appearances throughout all competitions in the 2015/16 campaign, Aubameyang is one of the hottest topics circling the transfer market.

He hasn’t made his feelings for Real Madrid a secret, and has repeatedly stated he would like to wait out to see if they come chasing with Karim Benzema coming to the end of his peak.

If the reports are true and Arsenal are in the race to get hold of Dortmund’s star man then they’ll have to dust off the cheque book, beating the current club record of £42m for Mesut Ozil.

The Gunners have also been linked with Romelu Lukaku and Alexandre Lacazette who are both viable candidates to fill a slot in Wenger’s squad, but Aubameyang just has something special.

Arsenal remain in the hunt for a top class striker after they missed out on signing Jamie Vardy, who performed a U-turn on the transfer despite having a medical booked and terms agreed.
