Player ratings: Arsenal 0-0 Newcastle

Fresh Arsenal newsletter

The Gunners were frustrated on Tuesday night by a Newcastle team who setup to take a point away from The Emirates and they did just that.

The first half saw both teams a bit nervy and unwilling to commit too many numbers in attack but in the second half the Gunners took real control of the game and were unlucky not to win. Arsenal’s biggest frustration though would’ve been how Dan Burn’s pull on Gabriel was not awarded as a penalty.

Here’s how I rated the players:
Aaron Ramsdale – 7
Oleksandr Zinchenko – 7
Gabriel Magalhaes – 7
William Saliba – 7
Ben White – 7
Thomas Partey – 7
Granit Xhaka – 5
Martin Odegaard – 7
Gabriel Martinelli – 6
Bukayo Saka – 7
Eddie Nketiah – 6

Man of the match: Thomas Partey. The whole defensive unit was solid today but Partey’s influence, especially in the second half, saw Arsenal constantly regain possession and keep the pressure on Newcastle.
