Arsenal are leading the race to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Adrien Rabiot according to reputable Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio.
On his personal website, the Italian wrote: ‘Arsenal are seriously Pursuing the French midfielder. The Gunners have offered €15M, PSG would like to receive € 25M, but the parties could get closer. Tomorrow morning, His mother and agent will be in London with a lawyer to talk to Wenger. The future of Rabiot is likely to be in England.’
Arsene Wenger is looking for a young replacement for the ageing Mikel Arteta whose contract expires next season, and a renewal is in doubt. Rabiot is young but brings a good physical presence to his game and has big potential.
RMC Radio yesterday claimed four clubs were in for Rabiot, with Arsenal as the favourites.
Rabiot stands at 6ft 2 and has managed three caps for the French U-21 National team. According to a report in Le10Sport, contract talks have stalled completely and with the teenagers contract expiring in 2015, because of this many clubs have been trying to sign the 19 year old this summer.
Rabiot may be young but he has a wealth of experience having featured regularly for PSG last term and on-loan at Toulouse before that. He is tall, strong and has a keen eye for a decent pass- which is everything Arsenal are looking for with a defensive midfielder.
