Alexis Sánchez Edges Closer To Arsenal Switch

Alexis Sánchez is edging closer to a move to Arsenal, after reports revealed he had been put up for sale by Barcelona and he is not interested in joining Liverpool. A report from Spanish media outlet Sport claims that the Gunners are the Chilean forwards first choice if he were to move clubs this summer.

The report notes the players desire to stay, but this seems unrealistic. The Spanish club are determined to sell him in order to raise funds for new additions and to comply with FFP regulations.

Arsene Wenger has held talks with the players agent and it seems he has done enough convincing to make the player want to join Arsenal. After an impressive showing in the World Cup, Sánchez’s Chile crashed out on penalties last night to Brazil, but their elimination could speed up a potential move to London.

Arsene had been carefully monitoring Sánchez’s progress during the tournament, and now he is free of international commitments, a transfer can be his priority.

Wenger recently indicated his desire to player a striker alongside Giroud, and  Sánchez has shown for his country his ability to perform very well as a striker. He can also play on either wing, making him a very appealing addition to Arsenal’s frontline.

Sánchez is one of many forwards Arsenal are linked with, but the nimble Chilean 25 year-old represents a player who would add something new and is entering his best years.

Arsenal could face late competition from Manchester City, but if the player has any sense he’d pick Arsenal of course. Why join another club where you will be in the peripheral when you could become a legend at Arsenal.

There are also reports from France that a deal for Sánchez is done. We believe these to be wide of the mark, but the Gunners are certainly heavily interested in Sánchez and a deal could be concluded for around £30million.
