Danny Welbeck
After Oliver Giroud’s injury Arsenal were crying out for a striker on deadline day. We were linked with many world class strikers including Falcao and Cavani but Wenger decided to do it his way and spend £16 million on Manchester United’s Danny Welbeck.
After featuring for England and scoring both goals in the 2-0 win versus Switzerland, the Englishman went into the game full of confidence. Welbeck started the game up top on his own against city and the former united striker provided lots of energy and pace for the gunners, something we have lacked for a very long time. Danny was running in behind the city defence and caused the champions problems especially inside the first half hour.
Welbeck could and maybe should have scored on his debut where a sloppy back pass from David Silva fell kindly for him but his delicate and superb chip could only hit the post. Welbeck went off with 10 minutes to go with cramp but he showed great promise and can provide Arsenal with a lot of pace and power. Click below to see number 2 and number 1.
