Arsenal Could Sign Fàbregas For £30m Tomorrow

Arsenal have been given the go-ahead to seal a return for Cesc Fàbregas after Barcelona said they would accept bids of £30million. Chelsea and Manchester City are also thought to be interested and Fabregas is keen to return to the Premier League – but if the Gunners are serious about wanting Cesc back – there will be only one destination for the Spanish midfielder this summer.

Arsenal have the option to buy back Cesc Fàbregas as early as tomorrow if they meet the asking price of £30million, and Fabregas would likely agree to wages in the region of £100,000 per-week. But as we all know, even though this could be the simplest deal ever to complete – Arsenal will take their time. There is a belief that Arsenal will only move for Fabregas if another Premier League club, so that could explain any delay. There are some reports that the Gunners hold a £25million buy-back clause – but this is not confirmed. The question now is whether Arsenal want to sign Fabregas? He is 27, and should be reaching his peak, but Arsenal have players of his ilk already in the side, and perhaps he would need to play in a deeper midfield role or even as a striker. Arsene Wenger is Cesc’s biggest fan and even if the squad is full in his position, it is hard to see Arsene squandering the chance to bring a player of his quality to the club for £30million, in his prime.

Fàbregas has managed spells of brilliance at the Camp Nou but has never really fitted in to his local side, and fans are turning against him. A series of lacklustre performances this season have seen the board also react negatively and have now put him up for sale this summer – as the La Liga runners up look to freshen up their squad.

At the moment we are blessed with attacking midfield options and adding another one to the collection may stunt the progress of others. Some will say that because many of these players are often injured then there is a need for more attacking options, as we struggled to create goals last season when the likes of Ozil, Ramsey and Chamberlain were out. Although this may be a valid point, you’d hope that the injury troubles at the club will be resolved this summer and this will be a feeling of the past. When everyone is fit then Fabregas definitely wouldn’t be a starter in the current 4-2-3-1 formation Wenger adopts. Ramsey is the first name on the team sheet, and will be accompanied by a new holding midfielder or Arteta. In front, you have Ozil, who on his day is probably better than Fabregas and you’d also hope he’ll have adapted to the English game and will be an even bigger presence next season. Then as back-up for these positions we have, Wilshere, Diaby, Chamberlain, Rosicky and Flamini with Cazorla, Walcott and Podolski occupying the other forward positions. Looking at those names shows that in the current system that Wenger plays there would be no need for another creative player, unless others depart during the summer.

In October 2013, the Spaniard admitted he didn’t know whether he would return as a player, but a coaching role could be available after his playing career is over: “Arsenal is in my heart and always will be. I don’t know if I’ll have the opportunity to go back and play there one day, or maybe after football.

“It’s a club that is always going to be there and will always open its doors to me. The club’s like a family so, even if it wasn’t as a coach, I’m sure they’d give me the chance to play a role.
