Arsenal have plenty of work to do this month if they are to have a serious chance this season in reclaiming a top four spot in the league, something that has to be the target of boss Mikel Arteta.
Arguably the team have improvements to make all across the pitch, including in attack.
According to The Telegraph, Arsenal have a serious interest in signing Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham.
They go on to say that Arsenal is an attractive proposal for Abraham as the Gunners were his boyhood club.
Chelsea are actively looking to sell Abraham in order to fund a move for Romelu Lukaku.
Rated at around £34million, Abraham is a young striker with plenty of experience of scoring in both the Premier League and Championship. The 23-year-old would give the Gunners a different option up top and a more physical presence than Aubameyang or Lacazette.
Alexandre Lacazette will see his Arsenal contract expire next summer, and there is no desire from the club to extend his deal.
Eddie Nketiah is in the same situation and the club will be hoping to offload both players in the coming weeks to ensure they recoup some value from them before they leave for nothing in a year’s time.
That would open the room for Abraham to come in with recently promoted Folarin Balogun, to support the clubs first choice striker and captain Aubameyang.
Abraham has fallen out of favour under new boss Thomas Tuchel, but he has a good goal-scoring record in England. On loan in the Championship for Aston Villa, he netted 26 times in 40 games. For Chelsea under Lampard last season, he scored 15 goals in 25 starts and 9 sub appearances. He’s also very strong in the air, standing at 6ft 3′ and averaging 2.2 aerial duels won per 90 across his career – well ahead of Aubameyang (1.2), Lacazette (0.9), and Nketiah (0.4).
