Arsenal announce they have terminated contract of £200k pw midfielder

Arsenal are beginning to clear the decks in their squad.

You may have even forgotten he plays for Arsenal but Henrikh Mkhitaryan has now officially had his contract terminated by mutual consent. This agreement has allowed for him to sign for Roma on a free transfer.

The Armenian international was earning around £200,000 per week and so releasing all of his wages off of the wage bill will certainly help the club in recruiting new players as they aim to keep a lid on their expenditure.

During his short time at the club, Micki netted nine times and assisted 13 more. His home debut was the highlight of his career, linking up excellently with fellow new signing Aubameyang. In fact, 3 of his assists came in that one game.

Mkhitaryan has had a much more successful time in Rome. The 31-year-old featured in 22 games and scored 9 goals. He is also the all time top scorer for Armenia with 29 International goals.

Everyone at Fresh Arsenal wishes Mkhitaryan the very best for the future.

There could be plenty of other first team players leaving Arsenal this season, as we discussed recently. For example Lucas Torreira. The Uruguayan midfielder seems destined to return to Italy. Viola News bring us the Italian reports that suggest Fiorentina have moved to the front of the queue for Torreira with an offer of 8.5m euros for a one year loan and a further 18m euros to make the deal permanent upon completion of the loan.
