Arsenal Could Still Complete £28million Defensive Transfer, Despite Reports To The Contrary

Arsenal are set to have a manic transfer deadline day today and despite reports suggesting there will be no defensive changes at the club today, Fresh Arsenal understands there could still be movement in this department.

Earlier today, reports suggested that Arsenal turned down a £20million bid for Calum Chambers and insisted he was not for sale. But we understand that the Gunners have not closed the door for Chambers to leave today, if their valuation of £28million is met. Both Crystal Palace and Leicester City remain interested in the Englishman’s services.

We understand that Chambers is likely to stay at the club, but if his valuation is met then Arsenal will not stand in the player’s way. A replacement at this stage is unlikely, though if Arsenal did manage to get their valuation for the player, they could possibly reignite their interest in Jonny Evans.

The 4 Most Likely Transfers Arsenal Will Complete Today

Currently, Chambers is viewed as an option at central defence and as a right wing back or right back depending on the system. Arsenal could turn to the likes of Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Reiss Nelson at right wing back, whilst in central defence Wenger now expects to keep Mustafi around and has faith in starting Rob Holding regularly.
