Arsenal could step up their interest in Karim Benzema, as three strikers look set to leave the club and Arsene Wenger looks to build a squad capable of winning the title.
Joel Campbell is closing in on a £3.5million move to Besiktas, whilst the Gunners are considering loaning out Yaya Sanogo and Chuba Akpom.
Combined with Lukas Podolski’s departure, Arsenal have room for another striker in the squad and Benzema has been regularly linked with a move to Wenger’s men.
Akpom and Sanogo still have a potential long term future at Arsenal but both look set to go out on loan, with Wenger considering offers from Aston Villa, Watford and Lille.
Whilst neither of this trio currently play much for the club, there’s certainly a need and space on the wage bill for another forward. Only Olivier Giroud has proven to be a consistent performer upfront for us, with Danny Welbeck and Theo Walcott so far failing to convince.
Benzema would add world class quality to a frontline that has been crying out for a striker of that ilk for some time. Only Robin van Persie temporarily gave us that – before he moved for pastures new.
If we had someone of van Persie’s quality in our team now, we’d surely win the title or get extremely close. I would really love to see us sign Benzema this summer and with rumours of Ibrahimovic joining Madrid heating up – that could become a reality.
