Unfortunately for the youngster it looks like this is a love story that never got its happy ending.

The arrival of both Matthieu Debuchy and Callum Chambers last Summer ensured the Gunners were more than covered in the right full-back position, allowing Jenkinson to move out on loan to West Ham.

How has he done?

The Englishman has been a vital part to ensuring Sam Allardyce’s Hammers side stay up, after racking up a total of 32 appearances in all competitions.

In addition to furthering his playing time, Jenkinson picked up two assists during his time, which has seen him develop into a more attacking right-back.

Who will he go to?

West Ham have already made it clear they would like to sign the 23-year-old on a permanent basis, and with the added lure of Europa League football it won’t be too much of a problem to lure Jenkinson across London.

However, clubs such as Liverpool who will be saying goodbye to Glen Johnson this summer could swoop in if the price is good enough.

How much can we get for him?

The fact that Jenkinson has already proved his ability means the desire to keep him at West Ham increases his transfer fee.

Arsene Wenger was a big admirer of the youngster and was reluctant to sell him at the beginning of the year, but that was before we saw the tremendous form of Hector Bellerin.

Arsenal can confidently look for something in the region of £10million, and with Liverpool in search of a new right-back following the departure of Glen Johnson, West Ham could have a fight on their hands.
