5 Things Wenger Should Do Before The 2016/17 Campaign Gets Underway

With less than 25 days to go until the opening day of the Premier League campaign, attention is slowly turning to how Arsenal are set up for the season.

Arsene Wenger has just one year left on his contract and although that looks likely to get renewed by the board, it all feels a little bit like last chance saloon at the Emirates.

Having brought in the likes of Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez the Gunners supporters would be easily forgiven for thinking they’d have more than two FA Cup’s to shout about.

But following another trophy-less season that saw the club fall 10 points short of the title and nearly finish below rivals Spurs, a massive lift is needed for the players and fans.

The only person in charge of doing that is Arsene Wenger, and unless he can get these players to perform from the beginning, it could be a long way back to get the trust of the loyal supporters.

1 – Sign, Sign, Sign…

Probably on the top of both his and every Arsenal fans list for the upcoming season, the time is now for Wenger to deliver a household name to the Emirates.

Last year’s transfer activity saw just Petr Cech as they only new addition to the first team, as the boss failed to bring in a single outfield player during the summer.

This time around things are looking a little different, the pressure on his shoulders is mounting from the supporters and tension is only getting worse between each fixture.

It’s time to give the supporters exactly hat they want, a top class striker that has the ability to lead an equally top class club to Premier League success after 12 years of waiting.

As well as that, a central defender needs to be acquired, somebody that can fit straight into the side because we as fans are sick of hearing the word “prospect”.

Calum Chambers is likely to get his chance in one/two seasons time, especially after Wenger paid £16m for him so the kid is rather appreciated by the boss.

I could go on about the players we’ve been linked to so far this summer but we all know what’s happening, and quite frankly there’s not a lot to talk about at this time.

Wenger will have one eye on the market during the clubs tour out to America at the end of July, due to former academy starlet Chuba Akpom being the only available striker to select at the beginning of the season.
