3 – Mauro Icardi
A talented young striker with an eye for goal, Icardi could be a good alternative that Arsenal should seriously consider. He hasn’t been linked much, but he’s a goalscorer and has proven that over the last few seasons for Inter Milan. He has scored 47 goals in 88 games for Inter and he is aged just 23 years old. Icardi isn’t a man to defend like Giroud does on occasions, he’s an out and out striker and that might be what Arsenal need but it makes him an unlikely target for Wenger. Icardi only completes 73% of his passes and doesn’t get involved in the build-up play often, again another trait that makes him an unlikely target for Arsene. But Icardi is a good striker, he has an arrogance about him that Arsenal could probably benefit from. He’s good at running with the ball and uses his 5ft 11′ frame to hold onto it well. The key is he’s a very good finisher and Arsenal need more goals. He’s very different to Giroud but so was Jamie Vardy, so Arsene is clearly searching for a different breed for his new no.9 and Icardi is exactly that. Inter would be looking for at least £30million, but aged just 23 Icardi could easily repay that fee in time.
