5 – Serge Gnabry
Okay, I teased you a little bit with this one and whilst Gnabry was linked with a move away from the Emirates it looks as if that’s all about to change.
At the time of writing this, he’s the top goalscorer at the Rio Olympics having bagged six goals and he’ll want to take that form to this weekends final against hosts Brazil.
His stunning form has given the media plenty to speculate about, and whilst a switch to Hertha Berlin was on the cards Wenger has now spoken out about the German youngster.
What’s the latest?
Speaking ahead of the away tie with Leicester City, Wenger was quick to register his interest in keeping hold of the exciting winger for as long as possible.
Wenger stated that he wants to extend the contract of Gnabry, who endured a horrible loan spell to West Brom last season picking up just two substitute appearances.
Since then it’s all about building confidence and it looks as if the winger is doing that all by himself out in Rio, he’ll return to Arsenal soon in competitive form.
What can he offer us this season?
With so many options on the wings providing everyone stays fit, it stops the likes of Ramsey or Wilshere having to play out on the flanks should an injury occur.
His balance of pace and agility are attributes that give him a great chance to break into the first team and challenge Theo Walcott for the position on the right hand side.
His intelligence is fantastic for a young player, and spending time with his good friend Mesut Ozil can only be a good thing, who is their as a better mentor to grab assists?
