3 – Landmark Striker
Buckle up Arsenal fans because this one looks set to really happen this summer, after years of waiting we could finally have a top class striker joining the club.
If we’re going into the season (yet again) with only these two to pick as centre forwards then I suggest Wenger starts clearing his things from his locker now.
Sure, we’ve got Alexis to play up there but without someone sitting alongside him there is never a chance of him being able to get the ball down and run at defenders.
Who could it be?
If you’re anything like me you’ll be getting sick of hearing the name Alexandre Lacazette by now, and funnily things seem to have gone rather quiet on the search for a striker.
David Ornstein recently suggested that the club are attempting to hold back funds on a defender to make way for a possible signing in the centre forward role.
Your guess is as good as ours with this one, but the likes of Julian Draxler and Wilfried Bony are both desperate to end their misery so it could prove to be a last-minute panic buy.
What can they bring?
Reassurance and goals. That’s exactly what we’ve all been crying out for in recent years, but it’s what we deserve after overpaying at the Emirates for too long.
We don’t need someone who’s a ‘prospect’, we need a player that is capable of scoring 20+ goals in the Premier League, that’s the kind of thing that wins you titles.
A player that can compliment the fast build-up play is significant, we’ve got Giroud who’s great in the air but he should only be used as an impact player off the bench.
