3 – Calum Chambers to Middlesbrough

Okay, so you might not have missed this one but it’s well worth taking a second look at Chambers’ move to the Premier League’s new boys.

It didn’t surprise us in the slightest that the 21-year-old was granted a switch away from the Emirates, and this is now a real chance to pick up some first team minutes.

The signing of Rob Holding and Shkodran Mustafi in one window not only shows Wenger is thinking about the title, but he’s also getting ready for the future.

Arsenal now have two young English centre backs, and two mid-aged internationals ready to work their way up to being first team reliables after the exit of Koscielny and Mertesacker.

With Gabriel back in roughly four weeks, there wasn’t much of a look-in for Chambers and now he’ll be ready to learn as much as possible about regular Premier League football.

He’s been an Arsenal player for two years now but you wouldn’t really know it after featuring mainly in cup competitions.

However, his leading role in the England Under-21’s team coupled with a reliable face at the heart of Middlesbrough’s defence gives us hope he’ll one day be our main man at the back.
