4 – Alexandre Lacazette
Two weeks ago this looked like the deal was ready and waiting to go through, but recent updates have suggested Arsenal have made no contact with Lyon.
Nevertheless, this remains a realistic transfer for Arsene Wenger to land this summer, with £45m the asking price from the French club who are reluctant to lose their star man.
Lacazette finished as runner-up to Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the Ligue 1 goalscoring ranks last season, but that wasn’t enough to lead his boyhood club to a Champions League place.
He’s always been given so much hype but we will never really know his ability until he makes the switch to a European league that isn’t dominated by one mega team.
He narrowly missed out on a place in the French squad for the Euro’s this summer and the lack of recognition could be more fuel to a desire to leave the club.
Regular first team football is comfortable for him now and he’s over-achieving at an underachieving team, all of that criteria should equate to alarm bells in Arsene Wenger’s head.
The chances of this one going through are high though, and a good pre-season with the Gunners would allow a spell to change his style of play ready for the demands of English football.
