2 – Gonzalo Higuain
Possibly the deal that all of us have been dreaming of for a number of years, and this could finally be the season where Arsene Wenger gets his man.
Reports have already suggested a deal for the Argentinian could be on with a possible £4omillion ready to be offered to Napoli, as well as offloading Olivier Giroud to tie up the move.
Higuain has an official release clause of £78m but it looks as if Wenger is unwilling to pay over the odds for the 28-year-old who has 2-3 years of his best form left in him.
But talking of form, this is the man that’s got it. With 36 goals alone in Serie A, Higuain smashed the tally charts and is up there with some of Europe’s top strikers for goals per game.
For that reason alone he seems like the best striker that’s still available on the market, with Manchester United and Chelsea already getting their business in the forward lines done early.
Higuain has bags of talent and there’s no doubting his capability of fitting into this league, and for that reason I think Wenger really does need to fork out the money for his services.
His expectations are high and he’s fed up of life in Serie A with an underachieving club, and that’s what could be crucial in swooping in for his signature.
Arsenal can offer Champions League football and an automatic place into the first team line-up, but it looks as if the only chance of getting him will come down to how big the account is.
