4 Realistic Defensive Signings Arsenal Could Make Before The Season Starts

4 – Kostas Manolas

You might be familiar with the 25-year-old following a failed attempt to sign him back in 2014 when Arsenal refused to pay the £12m price tag.

Since then, the centre back has come a long way at Roma and is now considered to be one of the most consistent defenders in Serie A, picking up 37 of 38 appearances.

His aggression is second to none and a demanding life in the Premier League wouldn’t put him off the move where he could go on to become a concrete option at the back.

But that’s it, Manolas won’t be willing to move away from a side that have given him so much time to progress as an individual both on and off the pitch.

Competition for the Serie A will be fierce this year and there’s no doubt that the Greece international will want to feature as a main figurehead for his side.

Since the move from Olympiacos back in 2014, Manolas has bagged 24 caps for his country, but that could be effected if he wasn’t playing week in, week out at the Gunners.

Despite Roma’s boss speaking out on his star mans future, Arsenal could weigh in with a bid that attracts all parties for a player that has his best years in front of him.

Chelsea and Manchester City have also been linked with the defender, and that could cause a late bidding war if the Gunners are serious about bringing in experience.
