Newcastle could yet make a late move having lost Dwight Gayle, whilst Marseille are also being linked with a late swoop, but the most likely scenario today is that Lucas returns to Deportivo on loan (£4million loan fee). Perez, for some reason, has not managed to pick up much game time at all under Arsene Wenger as so a move away from the club has appeared inevitable all summer. But it shows the incompetence of the board that a transfer has taken so long to conclude, only for it to be yet another loan deal. Arsenal will hope that Newcastle or Marseille come in with a cash bid north of £10million today so they can recoup a few more pennies.
