2 – Giroud Is Hungry Again
Perhaps we’ve been a little bit pre-occupied with the successes of Theo Walcott playing centre forward, but Giroud well and truly staked his claim on Saturday afternoon.Â
The striker picked up his sixth Premier League goal after knocking home the header from yet another Mesut Ozil assist, which opened up Arsenal’s afternoon.
From there on in, it was a chance for the Frenchman to dominate the final third with his aerial presence, and showed Arsene Wenger exactly what he can do.
With Walcott missing until after the international break, Giroud will be playing up top indefinitely for the next couple of fixtures, and a goal at the weekend prepares him for Wednesday night.
However, as well as grabbing his goal against Swansea, we saw a player that wanted to perform, that wanted to win the ball back and hunt down the chance to get in and around the area.
He’s chasing the play down a lot more, and the competition of Walcott has brought a different side to Giroud’s game which is quite clearly paying off in his goalscoring record.
His job now is to give Wenger a headache for when Walcott does return to action, and if he can pull off a vital performance over the next week he will for once be the man at the centre of attention.
That’s what he’s needed, and you can see that with goals brings confidence, and with confidence means he’s finally enjoying his football with the support of the Gunners faithful.
