Also new to the Toon Army and the clubs most recent capture, is the very unpredictable Florian Thauvin, and Gunners fans need to keep their eyes out for him.
The 22-year-old made the back pages at the beginning of August, after finalising a deal to switch to the Premier League, which was believed to be in the region of £12million.
The French international made his full debut for the club on Tuesday night, scoring the opener in Newcastle’s 4-1 thrashing in the Capital One Cup and assisting the other three goals.
And despite having plenty of doubters, Thauvin is ready to start fresh with a club that are changing their philosophy week by week.
Playing on the left or the right flanks, the winger had a mixed few years at Marseille, scoring 13 goals from 67 appearances in all competitions.
McClarren played the youngster on the left wing during the mid-week game against Northampton Town, and he’ll be aiming to do the same this weekend to expose an uncertain Gunners right side.
There have already been several changes on the right wing and we’ve often seen Aaron Ramsey drop in to fill the central area, leaving the young Hector Bellerin to pick up a lot of the pieces.
Thauvin is a player brimming with determination, and that could well spell danger for Arsene Wenger’s side, especially when you consider his temptations to dart on the counter attack.
