2. Damien Martinez
Martinez is currently the third choice Arsenal goalkeeper behind new signing David Ospina and of course Woijech Szczesny. The expectation is that Martinez will be given the nod next week for the clash against Southampton, which is the perfect game for him to make his mark.
Martinez, like Bellerin, needs to be ready when called upon and the game against Southampton can provide the perfect opportunity for that. However, he’s likely to need more minutes before he can truly be ready. We need to be wary that with Ospina on the sidelines, a knock to Szczesny could mean Martinez is our only option.
Wojciech Szczesny benefitted in a similar scenario in the past but it is a major risk to take. With Arsenal’s defence already lacking options, we must ensure Martinez is ready when called upon.
