Arsenal’s youth system is renowned for bringing through superb players into the first-team picture, with Wojciech Szczesny, Jack Wilshere and Kieran Gibbs among those currently in the starting squad that have been at the club since youth level. The Gunners must continue their trend and with many quality players waiting on the wings, now is the time to give them their chance.
With the Capital One Cup clash against Southampton next week, it is the perfect time to identify these players who deserve a chance- and these three are top of the list.
1. Hector Bellerin
At the time of writing, Hector Bellerin could well be awarded a start for the Champions League clash against Borussia Dortmund due to an injury to Mathieu Debuchy and Calum Chambers suffering with an illness. It would be a baptism of fire for the young Catalan defender but it is the perfect opportunity for him.
Carl Jenkinson’s loan away from the Emirates this summer means that Arsene Wenger has a lot of faith in the abilities of young Bellerin and it is about time we gave him his chance in the first team picture, to ensure that he has settled into the regime when called upon at a later date due to injuries, suspensions or resting those ahead of him.
Bellerin is highly-rated and is widely considered to be the long-term candidate for Arsenal’s right-back berth, so the the quicker he gets game time, the better. Click below to see the other two player’s I have suggested.Â
