3 Arsenal Players To Watch At The World Cup

2. Joel Campbell

The young Costa Rican has been impressing on-loan this season at Olympiacos, with the most notable of his performances coming in the Champions League against Manchester United. However, the young striker is not expected to remain at the Emirates next season as he is likely to be shipped off on-loan once again, preferably to a Premier League side.

Having said that, a class showing for Campbell at the World Cup could convince Wenger to put him in Arsenal’s senior squad next season, with the opportunity to utilise him off the bench or in the cup competitions. With Costa Rica lining up against Uruguay, Italy and England in Brazil, there is no bigger opportunity for Campbell to assert himself in front of the Arsenal fans worldwide.

Campbell is playing for his short-term future in Brazil as even if he doesn’t remain at Arsenal after impressing at the World Cup, his performances will decide what level of team will be looking to pick him up next season. With a number of top-table Premier League sides reportedly in the market for a striker this summer, Campbell could end up on-loan at one of these clubs and may end up impressing in the same fashion that Romelu Lukaku did at West Brom and Everton.
