After been demolished by Chelsea last campaign, you’d like to think that the Gunners won’t be so expansive in their play tomorrow at the bridge. The side, fresh from trouncing Galatasaray in the week don’t have any new injury concerns, but of course the likes of Aaron Ramsey, Mikel Arteta and Theo Walcott are still out.
Personally, I’d like to see a more defensive side and really “park the bus” like Chelsea have in big away games on many occasions. Whilst we don’t have the ideal players to fit that kind of the system at the moment we should definitely give it a go, but it remains to be seen whether Wenger will change his beliefs to attempt to control the Chelsea side. Even without Chamberlain, there’s four Englishman in this predicted XI.
Predicted team vs Chelsea: Szczesny; Chambers, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs; Flamini, Wilshere; Alexis, Ozil, Cazorla; Welbeck
Due to injuries the side is pretty limited in terms of who can play in the centre of midfield. On the break the team has plenty of pace and should cause the Chelsea back line many problems. Defensively I feel this side is pretty vulnerable but a lack of options in holding midfield and centre-back mean that’s what Wenger will have to go with what he’s got. This is a huge game and will definitely test Arsenal’s credentials.
