A report in The Mirror today suggests that Winston Reid has told West Ham he wants to move to Arsenal this month. With the player seemingly unhappy to stay until the end of the season, Sam Allardyce may well be more willing to sell. If Arsenal do want Reid, they will certainly have more bargaining power in any deal after the defenders come and get me plea to The Gunners.

According to Sport Witness, Danish media are suggesting Arsenal are readying a £7million bid for the New Zealand born defender. They could inside news on any deal, due to Reid’s previous connections in Denmark.

Danish club FC Midtjylland will be hoping the Arsenal pursue their interest in Reid and complete a deal this month, as they are due to net 10%-15% of the transfer fee paid. Reid left Midtjylland in 2010. Of course if West Ham refuse to sell this month, Reid will leave for free at the end of the season, and FC Midtjylland will be empty handed.

Reid is 6ft 3 and Premier League experienced. He’s capable of playing at right back but is predominantly a centre back. His experience and stature would make him a sensible addition to Arsenal’s defensive options.

Should we sign Reid? Is £7million too much for a player out of contract in 6 months? Have your say about this rumour by commenting below.
