Arsene Wenger has heaped praise on Liverpool star Raheem Sterling, who has been linked with a move to the Gunners this summer.
The 20-year-old England international revealed yesterday he had rejected a £100k-per-week contract with the Reds and will delay talks until this summer.
Wenger refused to get drawn into the speculation, with Arsenal said to be keen, but praised the England ace ahead of Liverpool’s visit to the Emirates this weekend. He said:
“Sterling is a top player but I don’t want to get involved in that 48 hours before a game,”
“I have a big respect for Liverpool but I am focused on the game and producing the performances we have done recently.”
Liverpool are frantically trying to keep the youngster at Anfield but face a stern test, as Sterling chases Champions League assurances.
Manchester City and Real Madrid are also both keen on the player- but reports suggest Arsenal may use Theo Walcott as makeweight in a potential deal.
