At this moment in time, it seems the media will take up just about anything when it comes to Arsene Wenger’s future with the Gunners.
Following the latest Premier League loss, the 67-year-old revealed he had made up his mind on whether to sign a contract extension or end a 20-year reign.
The Arsenal boss ensured he would make his decision clear following the international break which has led plenty of publications to promote ‘exclusive’ stories.
In the past week, Thomas Tuchel has jumped up the ranks as Wenger’s number one replacement, whilst Tony Pulis confirmed Wenger told him he would be staying.
However, in his latest interview with beinSports, the Frenchman may well have accidentally revealed his intentions after opening up on a very serious matter.
One of the biggest questions that’s heaping pressure on Wenger and the club is whether or not Ozil and Alexis will sign contract extensions between now and the end of the season.
But according to Wenger’s comments, he will meet with them at the end of the season to discuss their situation and oversee any formal talks or negotiations during the summer:
At the moment we do not have an agreement.
We’ve decided to focus on the end of the season and talk about it in the summer.
That leads us to believe that Wenger will still be around for some time once the season draws to a close, and he’ll play a massive part in whether or not the duo commit.
He’s already making plans to keep hold of his star players, whilst other reports have stated serious talks have taken place with senior members of the squad in regards to transfer plans.
One thing we can be sure of here is that the future of Ozil and Alexis in an Arsenal jersey doesn’t look certain at all, with the season result now affecting their decision.
We are nowhere near looking like getting Champions League football which means these two international superstars will pack their bags in no time.
