Transfers: Gunners Prepare £15million Bid For Greek Sensation

Arsene Wenger was reportedly impressed with Olympiacos midfielder Kostas Fortounis after the 22-year-old helped defeat the Gunners at their own ground. Now he wants to sign him.

Fortounis stands at 6ft and is an attacking midfielder, he was the player who took ‘that corner’ that beat David Ospina in the Champions League clash last month. Fortounis has since claimed that he tried to score from the corner after spotting the Colombian keeper off his line.

Now, the Greek media are linking Arsenal with a £15million bid for the talented midfielder. Already capped 15 times for Greece, Fortounis is known for a lot more than just that corner against us.

A player capable of playing on either wing or in attacking midfield, Fortounis could be viewed as a replacement for Tomas Rosicky when the Czech midfielder inevitably leaves the club at the end of the season. With Joel Campbell also likely to move on soon, there is a possibility that Wenger will want to sign another attacking midfielder, someone willing to play in a back up role and for a reasonable price. This could be lazy journalism, but all the ingredients are there for this transfer to potentially happen at the end of the season, let’s wait and see.

Fortounis has scored 12 goals in 31 games since joining Olympiacos in 2014. Would you like to see him sign? Comment below.
