Well that summer certainly didn’t disappoint did it. After some gruelling weeks of rumours, gossip and a very misleading Arsenal horse, the transfer window is over.
It’s certainly been a busy one for Arsene Wenger, and whilst much of the pressure was put on him to bring in new faces, we’ve also waved goodbye to some pretty significant ones.
In total, the Gunners have spent just short of £100million on summer signings, a statement that will remind the clubs title rivals that we are ready to compete both on and off the pitch.
But if you’re still hung up on what the heck “madness” might have been, we’ve put together a short guide to remind you who came in and how much money we handed over.
Shkodran Mustafi (£35million)
- Bought From: Valencia
- Announced: 30th August (8pm)
- Age: 24
- Position: Centre Back
Arsenal’s highlight of the summer and Wenger’s number one target, Mustafi becomes the clubs third most expensive signing in history after Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.
Valencia took us right down to the final few days after they were reluctant to lose their star man, but they needed the money to comply with FFP laws and £35m is a cut-price in itself.
He’s equipped to roll straight into the starting line-up and in a market where John Stones is £50m and David Luiz is £32m you would say Wenger has made a pretty impressive investment.
