Top Scoring European Striker Rules Out Joining Arsenal This Summer

Arsenal fans have been dealt a massive blow in the hopes of getting their hands on one of Europe’s highest scoring strikers.

That’s because Alexandre Lacazette has lifted the lid on how his future is going to play out, and by the looks of things it won’t be at Arsenal.

I know what you’re thinking, this is the guy we get linked with every single transfer window and nothing ever seems to materialise despite Wenger’s interest.

Last summer the Gunners made a move for the 29-year-old but Lyon refused to budge on their monumental asking price in order to keep their star man.

Lacazette has once again proved his worth this season with 24 goals in Ligue 1, whilst also firing his side to a place in the Europa League semi-final.

And with that kind of form brings a hell of a lot of confidence, so when he spoke to UEFA.com on Tuesday he made his intentions very clear:

(The team I join) will have to be in the Champions League and play good football. Passing the ball, not just hitting it from box to box. Not kick and rush. That would work for me.

This summer I might go for a breath of fresh air and try something different, always with the idea of progressing in football and as a person.

I’m going to keep working with the hope that good opportunities come for me this summer.

An opportunity certainly would’ve come for Lacazette from the Gunners, who are still without a solid centre forward option this season.

Alexis Sanchez has been shifted back to left wing, Danny Welbeck hasn’t done enough and Olivier Giroud is well… Olivier Giroud!

Arsenal now look to miss out on Champions League football, and Lacazette’s comments go to show just how big a disaster that could be.

The likes of Manchester United and Tottenham could attract players through their manager and fanbase, but let’s be honest, our club is a bit of a mess right now.

So it looks as if Lacazette won’t be joining Arsenal this summer, but can you really blame him after the season we’ve had?
