1. Owen doubts Arsenal… again
Finally, my favourite one of the week. Michael Owen has once again piped up and claimed that Arsenal don’t have what it takes to finish in the top four. The insufferable little pleb said: “The signing of Sanchez has made everyone sit up and take note. I really do rate him, he’s a top player and it’s a big step in the right direction. But in particular order, my top four for next season would be Chelsea, Man City, Man United and Liverpool. Arsenal haven’t had any real stand out players in the last few years, like Thierry Henry. They have just lagged behind.” It’s true, we haven’t really had a stand out player. Well, apart from Robin Van Persie and more recently, Mesut Özil. The one thing that bugs me about his comments is just how dim-witted and poorly considered they are. I’m not sure how he has come to the conclusion that Liverpool and Manchester United will certainly finish above us. Manchester United are in an incredibly unsettled situation at the moment following a disastrous season last year, and Liverpool have just sold their star man, Luis Suarez. Meanwhile, we have signed one of the best players in the world in Alexis Sanchez. It baffles me. I think the only thing anyone can say with any confidence is that next season is going to be incredibly exciting and incredibly close.
