2. Where is Khedira going?
The second news story making my list this week is the on-going saga concerning Sami Khedira’s move to the Emirates stadium. It started when we had apparently made a bid for the Real Madrid man, following reports that contract negotiations had broken down between him and Madrid. Then it was reported that Khedira was back in talks with Madrid over a new contract. Then Khedira’s agent said that there had been no contact between Arsenal, Real Madrid or the player. And now, according to ‘stories in the Spanish media’ as reported by The Metro, Sami is set to be unveiled as an Arsenal player on Monday. Riiight. I’m not buying that one. Obviously, it’s being reported by The Metro, which means there is about as much truth in it as there is in Harry Potter. Sorry Metro, but that’s how it is. It is possible that we could sign Khedira at some point, but we have just bid for William Carvalho of Sporting Lisbon. Basically, don’t expect any big news to come from the Emirates anytime too soon.
