3. Arsenal sign Debuchy
The first news story that made me smile this week was that we had officially signed Mathieu Debuchy. Of course, we had all known he was going to sign about two weeks before, but we had to wait until Newcastle signed Daryl Janmaat before we could unveil him. Arsenal revealed the French defender sporting the new Arsenal kit on Thursday evening and judging by his first interview with the club, he seems excited and ready to go. It wasn’t ideal when we lost Sagna and a right back was an essential signing this summer. Luckily, Arsène worked quickly, lined up a quality replacement and executed the transfer quickly. As well as that, he has been playing Premier League football for the last 18 months, meaning he’s ready made and can hit the ground running.
