4. Andy Linighan: Vs Sheffield Wednesday, 20th May 1993
After the first game was a draw the FA Cup final vs Sheffield Wednesday was contested as a replay 5 days later. Andy Linghan, Arsenal’s fourth choice centre-back famously scored the winner in extra-time, having his header palmed in by the opposition keeper. Mark Bright had broken Linighan’s nose during the game so it was fitting that he out jumped him to head home the winner, and give Arsenal the cup.
3. Alan Sunderland: Vs Man United, 12th May 1979
The final of 1979 is regarded as one of the greatest. Arsenal were leading 2-0 and completely cruising to another cup final victory. However, united struck twice in a matter of minutes to salvage the game and take it to what looked like was going to be a replay. Ultimately United’s efforts were in vain though, as Sunderland dramatically tapped in at the back post to hand Arsenal the win in the 90th minute.
