Arsene Wenger will want to complete some deals before the transfer window shuts in just four days, but who are the club already in talks with?
1) Edinson Cavani to Arsenal
Cavani has been strongly linked with a move to the Emirates over the last few weeks. Links have strengthened since Karim Benzema confirmed he would stay in Madrid.
The Uruguayan will not come cheap, but with Zlatan Ibrahimovic still the main man in Paris, the Uruguayan may be tempted by a move to England if Arsenal make an official approach.
Cavani scored 31 goals in 52 appearances for PSG last season whilst Giroud managed 19 in 36. Giroud notched four assists compared to Cavani’s two. The contribution of goals Cavani would offer to our team would be vital, it’s clear we need another natural goal-scorer in the squad following back-to-back games without scoring at home this season.
It is Cavani’s ability to play wide that also make him an attractive option. Wenger would like to keep giving chances Giroud up front, signing Cavani would enable the two to play together. Although the South American would mainly play as the main striker, it gives the Gunners a new dimension if the attacking duo were to play together.
I’d take these links with a pinch of salt though, as I find it unlikely that a big move for Cavani would be able to happen in the final days of the transfer window.
