Talks progressing for Arsenal to make significant sale of striker this summer

Marseille are actively pursuing Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah to strengthen their attacking options for the upcoming season. This move is part of a broader strategy to overhaul their forward line, with significant changes anticipated ahead of the new campaign.

In addition to Nketiah, Marseille are closing in on a deal to sign Mason Greenwood from Manchester United. The Greenwood transfer involves an initial fee of £27million, with an additional £3.2million in performance-based add-ons and a significant sell-on clause. This news comes from Daily Mail, as well as several sources across Europe.

With the Greenwood deal nearing completion, Marseille are now focusing on Nketiah. The 24-year-old striker has shown potential at Arsenal but has struggled to secure a regular starting role amidst fierce competition.

This news is reinforced by French journalist Santi Aouna, who has reported that Marseille have made ‘progress’ in their pursuit to sign Nketiah.

Arsenal are expected to demand a fee similar to that of Greenwood’s transfer to sanction the sale of Nketiah. Marseille might have to prepare an offer around £25million plus add ons to convince Arsenal to sell.

Nketiah, a product of Arsenal’s esteemed academy, has had a mixed journey at the club. Now 25, it seems the right time for him to move on and establish himself elsewhere.

A move to Marseille could provide Nketiah with the platform to play more consistently and showcase his abilities on a larger stage. For Arsenal, this transfer could also be an opportunity to reinvest in other areas of the squad, as Mikel Arteta continues to rework his squad.
