‘Talks ongoing’ for transfer of £25m striker, deal expected to happen

Arsenal’s market activity is livening up, with a flurry of deals expected to be completed in the coming weeks.

According to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth, talks are ongoing between Marseille and Arsenal regarding the potential transfer of Eddie Nketiah. Marseille are currently exploring the conditions of a deal, but as of now, no formal bid has been made. It is understood that Nketiah would be open to making the move.

We brought you the news of Marseille’s interest in Nketiah last week, and things appear to be heading in the direction of a deal being done.

This development comes in the context of previous interest from several Premier League clubs. These clubs had initially been put off by Nketiah’s asking price. However, his apparent availability at a lower rate, or even as a loan with an obligation to buy, might rekindle their interest in acquiring his services.

Transfermarkt value him at 30million euros (£25million) and such an amount in a formal offer would likely be enough to see Arsenal accept and reinvest.

Nketiah is currently with the Arsenal squad on their pre-season tour of the USA. The team is set to kick off their tour with a game against Bournemouth in the early hours of Thursday morning. Despite being part of the squad, Nketiah was used very sparingly in the second half of the previous season and is considered surplus to requirements at Arsenal.

The situation around Nketiah’s potential transfer remains fluid, with Marseille actively seeking to understand the feasibility of a deal that suits all parties involved. Whether or not a formal offer will materialise in the coming days remains to be seen, but Nketiah’s willingness to move suggests that a resolution could be found. The outcome of these negotiations will be closely watched, particularly by the Premier League clubs that might still harbour interest in the young striker.
