Sublime Star! Monreal Stats v Chelsea

Nacho Monreal has been a fantastic performer this season, establishing himself as the club’s first-choice left-back, and he was superb both at the back and going forward against Chelsea.

Monreal was arguably Arsenal’s Man of The Match, as he caused the left-hand side of the Blues often- and probably should have had an assist, had Mesut Ozil or Danny Welbeck connected with his low ball late on.

The Spaniard has 82% passing percentage throughout the game and created two clear cut chances, including the one mentioned above. His six crosses caused Gary Cahill and John Terry issues in the air- but unfortunately it could not be capitalised on.

He won 50% of his tackles and 75% of his aerial duels, whilst also making three interceptions, four clearances and conceding just two fouls. He put himself in the book late on for a necessary foul, as he prevented a late Chelsea counter-attack.

After missing out in last weekend’s FA Cup semi-final, Monreal showed that he is a better performer than Kieran Gibbs and should be considered as one of the first names on the team sheet.
