Serge Gnabry Hits Back At Werder Bremen’s Attempt To Humiliate Arsenal

As painful as it is to remind ourselves, we sold Serge Gnabry for £4million this summer, and it already looks like it was the best move for his career.

Following his switch to Werder Bremen, the winger has already justified his massive decision to leave the Gunners after growing impatient of chances to play for the first team.

Gnabry had huge potential under Arsene Wenger and many fans made their feelings known when the 21-year-old was confirmed as a Bremen player during the closing stages of the transfer window.

From our understanding, Wenger did everything he could to keep hold of the young German, but it seems regular first team football in his home nation was too good to turn down.

After finishing as top goalscorer at the Rio Olympics, Gnabry has gone on to feature for Bremen on nine occasions whilst finding the net four times.

His consistent form coupled with the decision to rest big players allowed Gnabry to make his debut for Germany’s senior side last week, in an impressive 8-0 victory over San Marino.

Gnabry took his chance by bagging himself a hat-trick, and Werder Bremen were quick to appear on Twitter to seemingly mock Arsenal for letting such a great player leave on the cheap.

It’s all fun and games really, but if Arsenal fans needed their minds putting to rest on Gnabry’s feelings towards his former club, then this should clear everything up.

Speaking to RND radio, quoted by the Daily Mail, Gnabry admitted he owed a lot to the Gunners:

Without being in England, I wouldn’t be the player I am now. There was Arsenal’s quick playing style, for example, which I learned.

When you are a young player and you get to train with such top players there are at Arsenal for three years then of course you take something away with you and it improves you.

That was definitely the case with me. I probably wouldn’t be here now if I had not been in England.

It’s great to see a player of Gnabry’s ability not forgetting his roots, and I for one hope he finds every chance of success whilst playing in the Bundesliga.

Can I see him back at Arsenal one day? I don’t really think so, his career is in Germany and he’ll have a lot more chances to raise his game playing in that division.
