Arsenal are continuing to hold talks with Fernando Llorente regarding a transfer, with reports from Corriere Dello Sport stating representatives of the North London club met with Llorente’s party on Tuesday.
Further to this, Tuttosport suggests talks concerning the 30-year-old took place in London- suggesting a transfer worth up to £11m for the former Athletic Bilbao forward could be imminent.
Llorente is expected to leave Juventus this summer and Arsenal are reportedly heavily interested in his signature, as well as Real Madrid- which could help Arsenal’s pursuit of Karim Benzema, should the Spaniard move to his nation’s homeland.
Arsene Wenger has stated that he will strengthen the squad in the final month of the season, where possible, and interest in a striker has been well documented throughout the year.
Arsenal only have Olivier Giroud as a recognised striker in the first-team but they have Theo Walcott, Danny Welbeck and Alexis Sanchez capable of playing in a central position.
Young Chuba Akpom could also be used sparingly this season, following his hat-trick during the club’s pre-season tour of Singapore.
