Reports: Arsenal set to confirm £65m double signing in ‘coming days’

Arsenal are set to make major moves in the transfer market this week, with two new signings expected to be confirmed.

Nuno Tavares has already joined the Gunners in a £7million deal, but Arsenal have yet to make any other senior signings so far this summer.

That looks like it is set to change, with several sources confirming this week that Arsenal are closing in on the signing of Belgian midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga in a deal worth around £15million.

Tonight, reliable journalist Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are set to complete the signing of Lokonga and also Ben White. The Athletic confirmed tonight that Arsenal have struck a £50million agreement with Brighton to sign White.

They report that the agreement is subject to a medical, with the fee understood to be in the region of £50million.

White has impressed heavily for Leeds in the Championship and for Brighton in the Premier League. At both clubs he showed his consistency and quality that saw him become a mainstay in both sides. He has also showcased ability to play both in defence and in central midfield.

White’s durability is another attractive feature to him. The 23-year-old played every minute in a gruelling Championship season for Leeds in the 2019/20 season which saw them crowned Champions of the division. White was equally a mainstay in the Brighton side in 2020/21 and didn’t pick up any injuries in a packed Premier League schedule.

Arsenal will want to tie up these deals, before turning their attention to other areas.

The club are likely to be shifting lots of players out the door this summer, whilst another central midfielder, right back and goalkeeper could also join in this window.
