Reports: Arsenal in talks with Premier League clubs about 2 players as deadline looms

Arsenal are set for a very busy final 36 hours of the transfer window, with many players set to leave the club and a couple could come in.

The priority as at the time of writing appears to be to sell players in order to create room for more potential arrivals.

The first of which is striker Eddie Nketiah. Currently injured, Eddie is a bit of an outcast at the club currently and is way down the pecking order. He is in the last year of his Arsenal contract, with no signs that he will sign a new deal.

Now, according to Sky Sports journalists, Crystal Palace are pushing to sign the young striker.

22-year-old Nketiah is England U21’s record goalscorer, but he’s struggled with the transition to senior football. Eddie has netted just 5 Premier League goals and 1 assist, despite being trusted with 11 starts and 24 sub appearances.

An unnamed German club are also reportedly interested. A deal that sees Nketiah leave the club looks very likely in the coming hours.

Arsenal are also in talks with another Premier League club, Everton for Ainsley Maitland-Niles. According to The Athletic, Everton have proposed a loan deal with an option to buy.

Personally, considering Maitland-Niles would have just one year remaining on his contract next summer, I’m not sure there is a benefit of loaning out the player this summer, especially to a top half rival.

The Athletic say the offer includes an ‘option’ to buy, but a loan only makes sense if it includes an ‘obligation’ to buy, in my opinion.
