Reports: Arsenal Eye Experienced Cazorla Replacement

After recent reports have linked Santi Cazorla with a move away from the Emirates, it seems Arsenal are already checking out possible replacements.

Arsenal chief scout, Steve Rowley, has already ‘made checks’ on Hoffenheim playmaker Roberto Firmino, according to reports from the Sunday People.

The former La Liga midfielder has experience in top-level football, and could be the ready-made switch for Santi Cazorla, if the rumours of a summer move are true.

In-form man, Cazorla will have just over a year left on his contract during the summer, and despite Wenger’s adamance that the Spaniard is staying put, Athletico Madrid manager, Diego Simeone has set his sights on a summer-swoop for Cazorla.

It’s hard to see Santi leaving the Gunners this year, but if Firmino is being watched by the orders of Arsene Wenger, then we have to put two and two together.

At 23 years old, the Brazilian international would slot into the team with his peak years set to come, and would be affordable as he carries a £20m price tag.

He’s currently enjoying success in the Bundesliga where he has six goals and seven assists within 23 appearances as a regular for the German side.
