Report: OGC Nice interested in signing Arsenal winger on loan

Arsenal could be about to make a huge amount of progress in their summer transfer window in the form of a heavyweight departure.

According to a report from Foot Mercato’s Santi Aouna, interest has emerged from OGC Nice regarding a potential move for Nicolas Pepe.

The news from Aouna states that Arsenal would be willing to accept a loan offer given the right terms, and the player himself is keen to make a return to Ligue 1.

Having already signed fellow Premier League player, Kasper Schmeichel and former Gunner, Aaron Ramsey, it’s believed Nice now want to bolster their attacking options.

A whole host of names including Moise Kean and Edinson Cavani have already been mentioned, but Pepe seems to be a signing that would be easy to do.

I would imagine Arsenal would want to include some sort of obligation or option to purchase the player, but his wages being paid will single handedly sort them out.

It’s been no secret that Mikel Arteta is looking to ship out the 27-year-old who remains Arsenal’s club record signing after arriving in 2019 for £72m.

It’s fair to say we’re still yet to see the very best from Pepe and the fact he’s been an unused substitute in both Premier League games is a big indication of where his future lies.

We’re entering the stage of the window where if it’s not happening now, it’s more than likely going to run down to the final days and hours.

However, with Pepe keen to get a move over the line we could potentially see all parties willing to wrap this up quickly so Arsenal can turn attention to incomings.

Arsenal have already been in for Raphinha before he joined Barcelona earlier this summer, and are now heavily linked with Vilarreal’s Yeremy Pino.
