Report: Former fan favourite ‘interested by the idea’ of re-signing for Arsenal this summer

Arsenal could be open to bringing back a former player this summer according to a report in Italy.

The Gunners need to make many changes to their midfield this summer and the latest rumours are suggesting a former player and former teammate of boss Mikel Arteta could be the right fit.

According to TuttoJuve, Aaron Ramsey would be interested by the idea of returning to Arsenal. The problem, they say, is the valuation of Juventus. Ramsey of course joined Juventus for no fee, and they say Arsenal would not expect to pay a fee to bring the 30-year-old back to the club.

The report also states that the Welshman would have to reduce his salary for a deal to work.

Ramsey is currently competing for Wales at Euro 2020 and helped his team qualify for the last 16.

Ramsey offers some great qualities that are missing in Arsenal’s current midfield options, but his long-standing injury problems continue to be a concern.

Arsenal may view playing just one game a week next season as a good opportunity to get the best out of Ramsey.

It’s clear though that Arsenal do not want to commit big financial amounts on any deal. Ramsey is currently earning a large salary in Italy, and Arsenal would not want to commit to anything like that.

The length of the deal would be another interesting one. Aged 30 and injury-prone, I’d personally not want to give him more than a two-year contract.
